Lots of Fun in the Summertime - #94

We have a lot of travel planned this summer. We leave July 27th for our 24 day cruise, home a week, off to West Virginia for my grand-niece’s Bat Mitzvah and then a few weeks later, off to Mississippi for the fall, winter and early spring. That wraps up 2024.

Our cruise is now in 18 days from today and I have started the packing process; I have found this to be extremely challenging! The temperature will vary as we depart from 70-90’s in Boston to the cooler Arctic Ocean air of 40-50’s. I see some fabulous photos in my future of icebergs and scenery. Chances of seeing the Northern Lights are a little less likely in August, but I am hopeful. We have been waiting for this trip for almost a year! So - I’m trying to fit everything thing two suitcases and carry-ons. We are so fortunate we’re not flying as our luggage will be filled to capacity and then some! We will probably do laundry on the cruise but everything costs so I’d like to keep that to a minimum. It’s the heavier clothes that really take up space!

However, until then, life goes on!

My rock painting class a few weeks ago was a success! We had a pretty good turn out ( 11 signed up; 9 actually attended). I had more than enough rocks and supplies for everyone. We even made extras to leave at the senior center to start a rock garden.

That Saturday after, we started our pet/house sitting gig in Stoughton which I talked about in my last entry. It was an enjoyable 4 days with our new animal friends!

We held a “ thank you” luncheon for our yoga instructor, Judy after class the Wednesday before last. I had been the main catalyst to get things going; we all really like Judy and wanted to show our appreciation! The food was good, we all enjoyed!

The July Fourth celebrations have come and gone - starting with a BBQ at our home before the fireworks display (which is down the end of our street) on Tuesday, July 2nd. Because of our proximity to the fireworks, this has become an annual event hosted by my kids. I provide backup - set up and clean up. This year, our friends Dee Dee and Brett joined us. We all had a good time!  Then on July 4th, our town parade through the center - such as it is... The kids just love collecting the candy thrown from the various floats and we even acquired t-shirts being distributed.

July 4th is always the point in time we start counting down the days of summer. It goes by so quickly!
We still have lots to do and plan to enjoy our favorite season!
